Here is the situation..

2006 Fatboy, 3300 miles. Front low beam went out with less than 500 miles on odo. Right turn signal switch began to be intermittant with flashing. will light up, not flash.

Now the bike will not start. Battery has 14.5 volts. Sometimes the bike starts, sometimes it will not.

The headlight is an auto on regualted by the run switch. The low beam does not illuminate, the high beam works. New bulb plugged in, does not work.

So..the right turn signal blinker not working but illuminated, the run and start switches are both on right side. Before I go tearing into this, any hints or suggestions?

All fuses, relays and frame grounds checked and cleaned.

Have you changed any of the "clamshell" housings that hold the switches? I switched my black to chrome and didnt pay attention to what it lookedlike before i started and had some of the same issues. But if you didnt have any of that messed with recently then I am not sure....nothing pinched any where

I have not changed them, but I did pull them off to fix a throttle cable hanging up in the housing. The wiring does look fine. That was the only time I removed them was to address the throttle not springing back to return.

I called Harley just a few minutes ago..Bought bike new, 17th May of 07. 2 year warranty expired 4/1/09.

Go figure.

I only tinker with my old bike but I sure you already checked all the connections in the headlight bucket right? Ignition, headlight, front blinkers, kill switch, gauges, etc all have connections in my headlight bucket.

Yes, checked connections in headlight bucket...

I have checked and cleaned all grounds and battery.

Every problem stems from right side switches. Battery charged, have not done anything to the bike over winter and started everytime without problems.

I know that feeling. My computer overheated and burnt out one week after the warranty expired. Found out it was a common problem for the brand.

Sorry I don't know much about bikes (I just ride them)and what I do know you checked already.

The "clamshell" housing has a ground in mine for the "start" button, I'm sure you already checked it. Sounds like you need to bust out the Fluke and check for continuity, grounds, voltage, etc on the non working parts. I'm sure you already did that too.

The bike will start with the switches still in clamshell and off of handlebar.

I went out this morning and started right up. Had 13v at battery before starting and over 15v while running.

After 2 minutes, shut off, started back up, ran for another minute, turned off, no start.

So your saying you turned it off both times, did you use the key or the kill switch?

Turned in ignition switch on tank. Switched first button to run, then secons switch next to that to start. Started right up.

Used the switch on handlebar to turn on and off.

I used kill switch..

Does the kill switch have three positions (off, run, off)? Might be a bad contact.

There is a voltage regulator on my bike, down low in front where the frame splits (almost directly behind the tire on the frame...looks like a little radiator with air cooling fins...Maybe it is getting hot and "opening" the switch, since it starts cold, but not after running

It sounds silly, but double check if your negative battery terminal is fully fastened. I've worked on dozens of old hondas, and 9 times out of ten, it's loose and fixes everything.

Got back from Harley yesterday. after the dealer installed the repainted paint scheme, the tank was not mounted properly causing the failure.

Even though I was 20 days out of warranty, harley took care of me.

I did have to pay a $100 admin fee though..

So I got out of there with a new set of braided plug wires to compliment the rest of the braided lines and some synthetic and a bulb and paid $181.

I got her back 2 days earlier than expected and glad to have her home!

Home already, I just got back from a 4 day weekend riding through Eureka Springs, AR and Branson, MO. If you want to get the bike wet and dirty let me know, everyone wants to take a trip to Iowa in August.
