It is well documented here that most people are not fans of the Edelbrock Carbs. I currently have a 1406 600CFM on my 67 326 HO.
I also have a Carter AFB 4034S that after researching looks like it came off of a 66 GTO with a 389(this was on the car when I got it). Is there any reason to believe that this Carb. would work any better on my car than the 1406?
Also does anyone know what the CFM is of the 4034S? I have not been able to determine that with my research.
I ran an Edlebrock for several years on my car. I had NO issues with it and the car ran geat! The ONLY reason I went with the Q-jet was for the stock look...
Thanks for the replies, I'm unhappy with the power the car has as it doesn't seem to have any get up and go, but I realize that can be many other things than the carb. It might also be how it was set up and tuned.
When I first got the car, and when it had the Carter it had a real radical cam and it would throw me back in the seat when I stepped on it. Unfortunately it had a real rough idle and was unreliable as far as starting etc. It still has the GM HEI on it that was there when I got it, but I swapped the cam out for a milder 066 and put the E 4106 on it for reliability and the electric choke.
Sounds like maybe I need to have someone check that the Carb is set up properly and tuned properly before I think about switching back to the Carter as it is not original either.
