Does somebody make the deluxe seat covers without the comfort weave insert. Im restoring my 68 400 convertable and want to keep it as close to original as possible Thanks Mark
A few '68 deluxe patterns were also manufactured in non-Comfortweave. I had that argument with NPD while restoring two early '68 Meridian Turquoise '68 40 convertibles with non-Comfortweave deluxe pattern upholstery.
PUI custom manufactured it, and it was well worth the price.

they did the non comfort weave for me no extra charge. But that was a few years ago. Ok, maybe decades. However, the person on the phone was well aware of the situation, and told me that GM had shortages in 68 and many cars had non-weave inserts.
I believe it took about 6 weeks to make and the cost was about 15% more than in-stock product. What color is yours?
It was not a shortage; it was a design change. The non-Comfortweave was the early style, available only in Teal, Turquoise, Gold, Parchment, and bench seat Parchment. I don't know when the cutover date was, but an August and a September Meridian Turquoise were both grained vinyl pattern.
