Any advise on how to get to and remove the radio and dash speaker with A/C? I had the face plate and trim off the dash and could barely get my hand up there. Any ideas?
Knobs, nuts and dials removed, unscrew the two screws in the front.Unbolt the bracket on the side of the radio, right side if i recall correctly.Unplug the antenna and rear harness from the radio.Should drop out but cannot remember if you need to drop the ashtray and bracket out of the way to get it out.Not sure about an A/C car and the front speaker due to the ducting.I would imagine remove the duct work and then unbolt the speaker bracket to get it out.

Remove the glove box insert, this will allow you to get at the side radio bracket and A/C duct going to the center dash. Remove the center A/C vent and you should have no problems getting at the speaker.
On the assembly line, they started with the radio and built the car around it. It requires a large amount of swearing to remove it. Luckily, if you re putting in an aftermarket radio, they are usually much smaller and easier to get in.
i think the glove box idea is the best bet for now. The ashtray and bracket plus the heater tubes make it almost impossible to drop out. After that I'll get my K12 saw and go to work!
Be forewarned, the glove box liner is also a PITA to remove and install. But it does give you more room to work behind the dash. Ashtray and receptor will need to be removed. Yes the rear bracket is on the lower right rear corner.
i had removed my (69) radio most of the way but it seems there is a rather large black cable coming out of the back which i believe is hardwired into the radio and runs throughout the dash behind the globe box. Is that ghe power wire or is it the antenna? its just above the yellow wire, i could not find any radio wiring diagram
