looking for advice. i let my 68 go awhile back and i recently found out i still "own" it. i was wondering if anyone had gone through this aND HAD ANY SUCCESS FINDING THE CAR AGAIN. IM LOOKING TO RETAKE POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE FROM ITS CURRENT CARETAKER. any legal and professional help would be GREAT!!! and hope everyone is doing well!!!!

Do you have physical possession of the title in your name?

do you know of its location?

if not paid for ,and you have title , you can get a wrecker to reposess it..if in a driveway , at night hook it up, take to a good location , inform the owner (or the guy that was supposed to buy it)....

i would check with a lawyer first and bring the police with you

I wouldnt....actually a customer of ours (at the Volvo store) that cancelled his payment on a check after he didnt get his tires replaced under warrany (had 50,000 miles on them)...had his car towed by me ,( not personally , I hired the tow truck to do it)...then we informed him... he showed up with a cop from Missouri city (where he lived, a small town within Houston)and a warrant for my arrest by a J.P. (justice of the peace= judge) in Missouri city...
I called the City of Houston police, two came and called the DAs office ,the DA told them I had the right...I asked the Houston cops to tell the Missouri City cop to get off our property , they did ...it was almost like watching "gunfight at OK corral"...lol

then they told him he had to pay for the vehicle to get it...he tried writing another check..I told him I would only accept cash at this point...he asked the cops if I could refuse a check, they said yes...later he sent his wife with the money , she got his car back , guess he felt humiliated....and this guy was an attorney! Didnt know how it works,.....

Sounds like he still has the Title and it is still in his name, but the car is MIA(?)
Did you sell it on payments while keeping the title till it was paid for (and now the buyers skipped on the payments?

Is this about the car you sold James? As I recall there were several issues you two needed to iron out on the sale of that car.
