I can see why your friend went off the road! It's kind of deceiving in the picture but that was actually a 10 mph hairpin (180 deg) turn, he almost made it out of the turn when he hit the guard rail which put the bike into a skid and then into the ditch down the street a ways in the picture. It was almost completely upside down in the ditch when we first got there, it took 6 of us to get it upright and then back on the street. The insurance company totaled his bike out.

Those Gold Wings weigh close to a half ton and have a reverse gear. I thought my BMW R1100RSL was heavy. Love the name on the road, Pig Trail Byway.

He said it weighed over 800 lbs, not sure what it really weighed but we were able to lift it out of the ditch and put it back on the road.

Not to mention there is little shoulder past the white line...no room for error there! We rode on Saturday, but there were no whitelines except the snowline here that we stopped at for a cold one, at about 5500 feet. It was about 75f tho out....I'm on the far right BTW... Thats nice scenery on your ride....some great shots.

We're only an hour & a half from Eureka so we get there quite often. Is a tourist wonderland and cruising dreamland. Great places to eat too! Might be a good place for a number of us to gather.?

It is pretty touristy, I remember riding into town and seeing endless hotels. One thing I've realized is that most cars can out maneuver my bike in a turn, you just don't get the "flying an aircraft" feeling in a car though!

Not perfect, but awful darn fun is the Tail of the Dragon, US 129 through Deal's Gap. http://www.tailofthedragon.com/dragon.html 318 curves in 11 miles. The fun is all the elevation changes in those 11 miles.

I'm going to forward that to some friends and maybe one day I'll get to go there. I think that place would probably kill me!
