Any help out there? My 67 is running at 190', jumps up to 230' in stop and go traffic or anything besides the freeway. I'm in So Cal, and it's not even hot yet-hate to think what will happen in August. Engine was rebuilt 11/2003, completely new cooling system (4core HD radiator, new water pump & baffles, etc etc) also have slightly hotter cam, new intake manifold and carb. I don't mind spending $500 for an alum. radiator, or to mount an electric fan on the existing radiator, but I want to get this issue resolved prior to spending that kind of $$. These can't be normal temps, can they? Car runs GREAT on freeway, as long as I'm moving. ANY SUGGESTIONS?
Join the club! Mine runs at 190 or so when I'm on the move, then jumps to 220 plus at the lights. I ordered a four-core aluminum a few days ago. Also looked into Flex Fans (35.00) Banshee, any experience with flex fans?? Please use a graemlin in your response so I know its from you! :p

My buddy had a problem like that with his 56 chevy. Seems that the water pump he was running was pushing water faster than the thermostat could take. It wasn't letting the water go through enough. He simply removed the thermostat and problem was solved.
Nash, Ive tried the flex fans. The only fan that ever worked for me was the seven blade with the heavy duty fan clutch and it still got hot 220+ in stop and go traffic. With the seven blade fan I could rush the motor up and cool it down in stop and go traffic. The problem I had with the flex fan was the more I rushed the motor the hotter it got. The more rpms the fan turns the less air it would pull because the blades straight out. Keep us posted on how well the new radiator does. From what I have heard that will take care of the problem. Joe
Nash, Are you sure the new radiator is aluminum? I thought that the aluminum radiators were one or two core. The two core has something like 20-30% more cooling afect than the four core factory. Joe
Big Joe, you are right. I got it off Ebay and it was advertised to be better than a four core, but did not explain how many cores IT had. I've talked with the seller and he seems honest and knows Pontiac heat problems. We'll see I guess. Thanks for correcting me though, its an aluminum but not advertised as a four-core. Everythings awesome with this car but the **** heat issues!!
