Had my nerve test today and it hurt. I got shocked at different voltages on my arms, back and legs. Plus I had to have a needle pushed into the muscles in my arms, back and legs and then flex them one at a time and hold. It felt like I was giving myself a charlie horse with a sharp needle pain piercing in the middle. My legs still have cramps in them.
Got my results for the nerve test today and was told I have carpal tunnel in both my hands and my feet are fine. I don't think it is the answer because it really doesn't match all my symptoms, so I'm getting two MRI's on Friday. I told him about the sharp pains in my head that had just started a couple weeks ago. I also had four more vials of blood drawn for four more tests; celiac disease, vitamin b6 deficiency, vitamin b12 deficiency, immunofixation and total protein/ protein electrophoresis. Lots more tests ahead I'm sure..............
I don't think carpal tunnel syndrome explains all your symptoms either. Carpel tunnel is a type of neuropathy but it's probably part of another neurological problem. I hope the doc finds out more after these new tests. Let us know what you find out.

Actually, carpal tunnel is a quite common nerve entrapment, of the median nerve in the carpal tunnel at the wrist to be precise. It's usually not associated with other neurological problems, as it is a mechanical, local problem, easily corrected by a relatively small procedure where you open the carpal tunnel...
This will only explain the tintling or numb sensation in your fingertips, typically occurring at night, but also during the day...

Your right and I probably didn't say it the best way. It is a neuropathy but an isolated neuropathy that doesn't involve other body parts. I just find it odd that Jeremy has similiar symptoms in hands and feet but only carpel tunnel syndrome was diagnosed in his arms/hands. With his other symptoms like loss of balance and pains in his head, it sounds like a bigger neurological disease that may give similiar symptoms in his arms/hands like carpal tunnel syndrome. With more testing, they may make a better diagnosis. The neurologist probably diagnosed carpel tunnel syndrome for now with the evidence he had from testing so far. Or it could be carpel tunnel syndrome along with another neurological problem yet to be diagnosed.

I could have carpal tunnel on top of everything else but I just don't get why it all started about the same time and have the same numbness in my feet but turns up fine on the test.
Carpel tunnel doesn't seem to make much sense to me either with the symptoms happening about the same time in your hands and feet as long as with the other symptoms. Maybe the test results showing up in your hands only is because you do use a computer a lot at work. CTS is relatively common in people who use keyboards over an extended period of time without proper arm/hand posture. From the sounds of your job, it doesn't sound like you are at a regular desk that's setup ergonomically. I think CTS can be caused from the wrong angle of the hand to the arm while typing or the arm having frequent pressure against something such as an edge of a desk. I think the arm/hand braces that people wear for CTS is suppose to help correct the angle and provide support.

Well the occupational therapist doesn't think it is carpal tunnel since it didn't hurt with all the twist, turn, flex, hold tests and it didn't hurt at all. Just a little loss of sensitivity in my hands to touch but she said very minor and might be because of calluses. And the wrist gloves didn't make a difference at night, still woke up every night at least once. I registered 100 lbs to 115 lbs on the dynamometer with each hand not really trying and it didn't hurt either.
So whatever happened to this? I was watching Mystery Diagnosis (I think it's the Discovery Health Channel or TLC) last night, and remembered the pictures you had posted of your feet that basically matched what was happening with this guy. The description was that it felt like he was literally walking on razor blades. His feet would go from hot to cold, and discoloration from red to blue/black. He was sent to a nerve specialist who could not find any problems and ruled out the desease he actually had (no explanation why). This went on for 4 years and no doctor could seem to help him. Finally his wife (who had just received her nursing degree) was able to find a disease that could be related.
He was sent to a Dr. Anthony Rizzo, a Vascular Physician in Cleveland Ohio. http://www.healthgrades.com/directory_se...MD-3947338E.cfm He checked Mark's pulse points at various parts of the body and specifically behind his knees and on his ankles. when he took the BP on his feet there was little to no blood pressure. Turns out, he has Buerger's Disease (not to be confused with Berger's Disease) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buerger%27s_disease It is an autoimmune deficiency process stimulated by smoking. It causes a lack of blood supply to nerve endings for smokers or users of smokeless tobacco products. Stopping the use of tobacco/(or any product one can smoke) is therefore critical (if it continues for too long cells in the feet will slowely die off, eventually requiring amputation). After one quits smoking excercise can help regenerate new blood vessels. Non-smokers
Hope this helps if you haven't already figured it out. Even if someone has ruled it out, it might benefit you to contact this doctor. The patient featured last night also had the disease ruled out early on.
Basically I have given up right now and just deal with it. I have changed jobs which has reduced my stress and things have gotten better. The neurologist prescribed me some pills the last time I was there, one for the tingling and one for the stabbing headaches. I don't like pills but tried the ones for the tingling which worked but had horrible side effects. I stopped taking them after two weeks because they made my sense of taste go almost completely away and cotton mouth from hell. I could not taste anything I ate or drank. It has taken me a couple months to get my taste buds back and they are still not 100%. I never took the pills for the headaches because they were so quick, only lasted maybe a minute or two, so I can tolerate them. I have looked at Buerger's Disease before and don't think it fits with everything I have especially since I have never used any tobacco products. I also looked into Raynaud's disease which doesn't fit either, I have tried the ways they describe to get the tingling reaction but didn't work. I don't know what it is and will see if it gets bad again during December and January like it did last year.
