I have a 69 rag. I cannot find white seat covers anywhere. I now wonder if I have pearl white interior. How can I tell? It almost seems to look off white but may be faded.
I beleive 68 was the only year they had "pearl" actualy called pearl parchment. 67 and 69 had the parchement, which is different than the pearl parchment. Have you tried Classic Industries , Ames or NPD? they all sell the parchment seat covers.
Thanks...Awesome car and pics. Are you saying that I probably have parchment? You have such a stark white. I don't think mine was that white originally. Did they have white for 69?
Can you post a picture? The 68 pearl parchment seems to be a brighter whiter white than the parchment. It sounds like you have the parchment or white as they called it sometimes for 1969. Our's are only stark white because they are brand new. Here is a link on this topic: https://firstgenfirebird.org/forums/ubbth...html#Post137488
I guess bottom line is that the parchment is the white for that year. I thought it would say "white". I am sure mine is "parchment". I think CI has samples.
How long did it take you to build your car? Did you use many original parts? Are most after market parts ok? Should I stick with any GM part when available? I see they are more expensive.
If it helps, I have the original pearl parchment upholstery in my signature pic. You can see the pearl iridescence in the sunlight from some angles (but not in this pic).

Cary, It took us about 15 months to complete from a shell. We did buy some aftermarket parts like the door panels, dash pad, spoilers, wiring harness, glass and mirrors. We bought quite a few original parts from good folks here on this site. I would stay with original parts as much as you can, they fit right. Some of the after market parts fit ok but most do not. We look forward to seeing your pics... and welcome to the board!
Your cowl tag should have the trim code on it. That will tell you what color the "original" interior was. I have Parchment in mine as well, and it's not a bright white, it has a gold tint to it.

After cleaning interior, I am sure I have parchment. By the way, I tried several cleaners...409, soft scrub and fantastic...not much luck. I saw a post yesterday about Mr. Clean Magic Eraser...WOW! It really works...don't know how...don't really care!!!...it works great!
Just don't scrub for too long, or you'll rub off the surface finish.
I buy my PUI upholstery through NPD as they are local for me. However, if you go to the dealer list on the PUI site http://www.pui.cc/ you can find a dealer fairly local to you. Even if they are a Chevy shop, they can order the Pontiac covers for you. Just note the difference between standard and deluxe covers and cushions.
My wife and I both worked for P&G (Procter & Gamble) when those erasers first came out. We were both shipped a few cases of them to hand out as samples to our customers etc. I don't know what is in them, or exactly how they work, but those freaken things are amazing! We still have a few boxes of them and use them for everything, it's gonna suck when we have to start buying them! LOL
