i am the proud owner of a 68' 400 with a penny size chip in the dead center of my cowing. i have the chip, is there any fix i can enploy to sooth my sething anger?
Just the paint or did the primer chip off also? We've been filling in a couple chips ourselves and it takes time but the results are good. You'll need 600, 1200 and 2000 grit wet sand paper. Use the 600 first to get the edges smoothed, be careful as it will take the paint down quick next to the chip. Using a small brush, fill the chip with paint using several coats and wet sand with the 1200 between coats. Once you have it built up, use the 2000 to feather into the surrounding area. Mix your clear and catalyst together 4:1 and apply. Use liquid rubbing compound to finish off.
I can pick them out because I know they were there, but I dont think anyone else would see them unless they were really looking for hard. We're getting better at it. Filling in the chip is the easy part, getting the clearcoat to blend takes some time and a lot of rubbing compound. None of our chips have been bigger than a pea.
When I first read the title for the topic, I thought of cow chips. lol Then again, I do live in North Dakota. We have the world's largest holstein cow statue in New Salem.
