Hi Everyone. I am looking to install subframe connectors on my 67 hardtop. Has anyone purchased the bolt in style? I am not looking to modify the floor pans at all, but want a clean fit. I was wondering who you would recommend to buy these from? I know Summit and Jegs sell them, but does anyone know how they truly fit? Any past experience with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I bought a few sets from Jegs and they fit great. The last set I bought I tried to save money and bought them off eBay. I saved $50 but the bolt holes didn't line up for $#$$%^^&! Turned an easy job into a pain in the @$$. The hardest part of the job is unbolting the front spring perches. The body clip nuts usually break loose and you have to cut the bolts and buy new body clip nuts. Jim
do the subframe connectors provide a noticable increase in frame stiffness? Is it a must in high horsepower/torque (lets say 400hp/500ft-lb)applications?
In my opinion, sub-frame connectors are a must on ALL unibody cars regardless of HP output. They stop a lot of the twist and keep your sub-frame from moving on hard acceleration and braking. It's one of the best upgrades for the money. Jim
I just received my new subframe connectors from Jegs. They fit great, and no mods needed to make them fit. I realize I do need front subframe bushings now and the plates to repair this area. It is kind of rotted, and there are no bushings installed!!! Some day I will get this thing right.
