I think when I originally bought my car it had 215s on it, but honestly I'm not positive (it was either that or 205s). A 225/70 would be too tall, and probably rub in the front.
A P205/70R14 would be the close match for stock. The P215/70R14 is a match for the optional size that was offered back in the day. I have had P225/70R14's on my '69 with no issues. BUT, for '67-8 that size might be a issue with rubbing. Get a consensus from those owners before spending your hard earned money.
