I have a 67 Firebird that came with power four piston front brakes. They have been nothing but trouble so I want to replace them with single piston, hopefully later model GM calipers. Does anyone know what might fit. I still want to keep my stock 14" ralley wheels. One time I tried an aftermarket caliper and my wheels kept hitting the caliper. I did a search but it seems everyone was talking about aftermarket stuff.

You'll just need new caliper brackets, but you'll have to grind down the tops of them about 1/16 of an inch to provide clearance in those 14 inchers.

Most come in kits, but I have seen many on Ebay at reasonable pricing. I used a kit that had '69 calipers, they are a little bigger than the earlier ones. Worked out great.

You can probably sell those 4 piston calipers here or on Ebay and recoop all the monies you'll spend getting new parts.

I am trying to save money and buy the stuff locally at the auto parts place that is why I am going after GM style parts instead of aftermarket kits.

Calipers are available at the local parts houses, and the brackets are sold individually(1 pair)on Ebay, you may find them other places. Place a parts wanted ad on here and also check out Frankspontiacparts.com.
