Just purchased the deluxe interior handles for the 67 convertible from Classic Industries. These are the ones that go down inside the cup of the armrest. I try to put them on and it seems like the splined shaft on the door is too large for the handle? Can't figure this out. Any ideas?? Thank You
I bought mine from Ames. When putting them on the first time, they were very tight for me too. I took the door panel back off first, then put both handles on and tightened the screws all the way. Tightening the screws helped pull the handles onto the splines.
Then took everything back off, put the panels on, and re-installed. Then I had no problem.
Hopefully this helps.

I used a very short 5/16" box wrench. You get about a 1/8 turn at a time.
Others on this site have used a bent box wrench as well. They are a tough cookie to get at, but it can be done. I can see why they went away from these in '68.
