I am trying to verify what type of paint finish the hood hinges on the 1968 FB400 came with from the factory. Any help would be appreciated. I have heard it is charcoal grey zinc phosphate but would like validation. Thanks.
Thanks Mark. Just a few missing "gotcha's" on my 68. Running them down slowly. Mine is also a numbers matching triple black convertible. She won her AACA Junior and Senior. Getting ready for the Hemmings Motor News Concours D Elegance in July and trying to complete "minor authenticity" questions. Appreciate the response.
sweet car. if your going to do it, do it right. buy nos hinges. i bought a set and they look and fit great. mine is ready for paint. i done a complete frame off and i will paint it this october. it just needs the small details done also.
the hinges I have are the originals. My restoration shop painted them flat black as neither they or I know what the finish was supposed to be. However I would be interested in checking out replacing them. Where did you find yours?
thank you. as you know it was he== to do. you could try stripping them so see if the still have the plating. i saw them on e- pay a couple years ago. they came complete. iam glad i bought them. i havent looked to see if there are any for sale in a while. check there..
