My 69 bird reads 1/2 full on the gauge when it is entirely filled. It works its way down from there till both tank and gauge read empty. What kind of float is in the tank, cork I assume??? Is it difficult to put a new float in. I'm not entirely sure the tank is an original. What was the original tank capacity? Thanks for any help. Ted
Ted, Sounds like you have an electrical problem with your sending unit in the tank. Floats either float or sink. The new sending unit assembles are available from most of the catalogs. Jim
"capacity" is 18 gal. ,but most I hear can only put 15 gal in it, there``s evidently an air bubble or such , because of tanks tilt that prohibits more.....if you run empoty before you could have a bent pick up tube....reading half must be electrical problem...there`s no cork float...plastic ball if I remember right..
