Is anybody doing Woodward Ave , or Has anyone done it in the past. I am planning on doing it this year and would like to hear from somebody else who is either doing the cruise or has done it. Things to be sure not to miss and things to not waste time on. Thanks in advance, hank
I've taken my Firebird every year since 2003 and went a few years before that in my daily driver. There's a lot going on, it's like a 16 mile block party with cars.
Be sure your car is up to hours of traffic jams if you do the Royal Oak stretch, you see overheated cars every year that couldn't handle the stop-and-go. It's more open on the north end, and there is a freeway (I-696) you can hop on for a little more cooling.

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. I go every year. Will be arriving on Thursday and leaving Sunday. I stay with a guy who back in 1999 purchased my 1970 RA 4 Judge and we have been great friends every since. We make a family event out of it as I now bring the entire family up including 8 year old daughter and my 3 year old son. We usually park at Birmingham at the Porsche Audi dealership out front on Friday evening and in Birmingham on Saturday with a group of AMC's....
If anyone needs parking for Saturday, get hold of me quickly via PM or email to yellowbird@thefirstgensite.com to reserve your space. I have Royal Oak parking, 11 Mile and Woodward, at the sidewalk $50, mid lot $20, back lot $10. Hurry, as space is limited and open to the public. I've reserved a front row space for myself. Funds go to the Lions' Club, which supports Leader Dogs for the Blind.
Our company's quarterly downtime is scheduled that weekend, and we need to do maintenance on all the servers, which means I have to work all weekend. I've negotiated to have part of Friday off and then work Friday night, take Saturday off until evening then work through Saturday night into midafternoon Sunday. So I'll be out on Woodward, weather permitting, Friday and Saturday during the day.
