I Have a 1969 Firebird with a 400. It was originally a six cylinder. The accelerator cable has snaped and I can not reach it from inside the engine compartment. The cable is fed from the firewall through a small "pipe" then hooks to the pedal linkage. There is one bolt comming from the fire wall in to the inside of the car that can't be reached from the engine compartment. The cable goes down the firewall to the cut out for the bell housing. I believe the cable is aftermarket. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to access and replace the accelerator cable. Thank you
It sounds aftermarket to me. I had to replace the one in my 69 not to long ago and there was 1 bolt holding it to the firewall ( nothing in the way of it) and a clip holding it to the pedal. 2 mins it was out and replaced. If you could get a pic of yours maybe I could help better.

Maybe someday I will get this thing off the road to do a full restoration
