got caught by a monster storm, out late at a friends house. i was able to get a small tarp over the conv. top, just to be safe. next morning. my f@@cking floor was wet, pass. and driver side. the only area that wasn't covered was the cowling area. were does the kick panel area drain at? just put new carpet and kick panels in. i used way to much sealer, i thought. cleaned out, washed and painted the area behind kick panel, and they didn't hold water then i live in one of the rainest city in the u.s., so i've got to solve this. is there a way i could increase the drainage from this area? i now have a proper oh sh!t it's raining cover in my truck, but it want help if i'm driving. thanks for any help. tim
is your kickpanel area clean? lots of leaves there usually , andif so will kick water in.
any leaks from under the cowl/firewall, holes not plugged up ?
You might use a hose and go over several areas see, iff you see any leakage
I "think" the kick panels area drains at the same place the top does = in the rocker panel...the conv. top gutter drains into the rocker ,then into the rocker, then behind the front wheel it drains, could that be plugged? get in under the car ,I think you can tell where that drain is (going from memory here) use a coat hanger or such and clean it out....
Is it a 68? If so, take a look at the astro vents as they pull air from a duct under cowl panel. The seals go bad and water can intrude. Also, what kind of sealer did you use on the kick panels?
Replace the door seals as water runs down the door edge and then onto the floor, thats if you reached way in and and cleaned the area by the lower part of the fenders. All it takes is the hole at the bottom to plug, its a poor design. Put some water in your cowl and see where it drips, I shoved a stick in the hole and it poured water out. Then I pulled the panels out and got a bucket dirt/ leaves out of each side.
