I have a 67 Firebird 326 V8 auto convertible I have just purchased in the UK. It has non power drums brakes all round. I have just bought a brake booster for it and will fit that as soon as it arrives.
As I live in the UK there arn't many breakers yards to go and raid parts for a brake conversion but a while ago my brother got some brake discs caliphers and spindles off a 78 cutlass.
I have looked on the frequently asked question and seen that a 78 cutlass spindles won't fit but the discs are in good condition.
My question is if I buy a spindle kit would the 78 cutlass discs fit and then I could buy new calphers.
I have looked at buying a kit but the shipping cost is horrendous to the UK.
I was thinking of something like this off Ebay as a spindle kit and use the cutlass discs and get new pads and caliphers.

Well just got through fitting a 9" brake booster and it's one hell of an improvement! So much so I will forget about fitting disc brakes for now.

I changed my '67's manual drums to power drums and was happy with the drastic improvement as well.
No plans to go to discs.

I bought a new booster and MC from Ames. The booster came with the longer plunger arm. I reused all the other original parts. However, I ran all new pre-bent brake lines so I can't say for sure that the original ones would have worked, but others from this site said they were able to move (or bend) their lines forward after adding a booster.
I believe I could have re-used the old MC too, but I just wanted to go new seeing as I had it all apart.
