OK...

I have two neighbors. To the north I have a mother/daughter who are 80/50 ish..Garage in backyard dilapidated..Probably hasn't seen action in 30 years. Yard kept up nice, decent. House value is half of mine and they have an acre of land. To the south, same size property, house built in the 60's, in ground pool.

Rural city setting..nice houses, decent lots.

Here it goes.

My cat lady neighbor has maybe 10-15 feral cats roaming about everywhere. Cats get into my garage piss everywhere. Cats get into my cars, piss everywhere. Cat tore up my $500 Corbin seat on my Harley and....you guessed it, pissed on it. Cats get into my Firebirds, onto my Firebirds, f-ing cat prints all over inside and out.

My neighbor to the south has a decent house...likes to spend his money going to the bar after work every day. trees growing out of his gutters, weeds everywhere, house hasn't been updated in 30 years. Only time something gets done is if someone else does it.

Uses my driveway to cut across and drive on his front lawn. Rude? redneck? ghetto? I take care of my [censored]..He and just about everyone not only cuts across at the beginning, they drive further up onto the concrete and then cut across. Now the first 5 slabs of my concrete are badly cracked and contractor states it is from, yep, you guessed it, uneven or improper loads from driving acrossed it that way. They have also screwed up a concrete block that within it has a drainage pipe..somebody backed over it and tilted it 45 degrees. I am getting sick and tired of having to spend my money because other people F my [censored] up!

On nice days, like today when everyone is home, he/they feel the need to crank up a few chainsaws and totally break the nice evening...then burn all the debris and the smoke and ash is in my house, on my car..etc.

I am just the kind of person who tolerates [censored] I guess. I can't comprehend that people just do not have common courtesy anymore and do not think of others.

This crap is actually sickening..I get bitched at by my south neighbor because I keep my house, lawn, cars clean and presentable. I have snipped back at how lazy he is and how redneck and ghetto (for this neighborhood) he is. I refuse to speak to the mother/daughter anymore because I have lost alot of money from cat damage. I know what my avenues are..say something to both about "my" issues with them, but there may come a time when my Harley guys come over on their loud bikes or if I start tuning my motor.

And just do not want to stir the pot.

I could get the ordinance officer involved with trapping these cats, sure..put up a huge log to restrict access to his front lawn...or I could just say "hey...what the F!"

My job takes alot of my patience and really do not want to deal with either...but I know one day, I will just go off.

Common courtesy is long gone brother. I think your problems are more common place than you may think. Why trash can't stay/live in trash, ghetto stay in the ghetto and rednecks stay with the other rednecks etc. Why it is that they feel the need to venture out into decent neighborhoods is beyond me!

Just on our short street alone we have 5 empty/vacant forclosures (soon to be 6). These places look so bad it's unreal. I guess in a couple of more years I won't have to worry what anything "looks" like and then I guess it won't bother me...

Ah hell I thought he was talking about me... had to see where you lived in case you lived next door. Really I couldn't stay on track reading all of that, but the cats, start catching them in live traps and haul there azz off! Next time your firestarters have a get-to-gether (svae all your plastic milk jugs) and go out side and burn them. Then sell out and come on down to Fl.

Banshee, move down to the New Orleans area. They can sure use some good cops down there(here). Good food. Reasonable real estate prices....lots to do for single guys(you are single, right?) ...and we need more FGFs here.

Trap the cats and drop them off at the shelter. That really stinks about the damage they've caused.

Get a big rock for the corner of your yard. You have enough room between the driveway and the unfenced line. That, or anchor a spike strip down buried in the grass. :evil:

If it comes down to calling on ordinance enforcement, better do it while you're going to be home for a while.

Over the past 6 weeks been home with broken wing. Since this is really the first summer I have had alot of time off (usually get injured/off work in winter) I have had ample time for disgust.

Anyhow, I have found 19 kittens in my yard since 2004, 8 have died..some with fly egg casings on them. I FINALLY took the 4 I found to Animal control and spoke with the officer and he gave me a trap and food. Two weeks, nothing.

I can't have anything nice without someone else [censored] it up, or someone else violating an ordinance (cats) or neighbors NOT having enough "class" to realize the guy next door (me) works his [censored] off, spends his time and money in his yard and it looks decent.

I am not trying to be "better" than either neighbor, just pisses me off that people don't take care and pride in their property.

I have to spend $3200 on concrete, another 4-5 hours righting the concrete block/driveway thingy, bleach and time for the garage cat piss, lost a $150 car cover because of the afterbirth of 4 kittens, cat crap in the batting for my lower bucket 67 seats..what else? Oh, and a $548 Corbin seat for the bike.

I think I am going to write them a letter (cat ladies) and explain in detail what their cats have done and are doing and what they have damaged and that is the reason I avoid them.

And my other, he is a lost cause, serial drunk. I offered to fertilize, cut, edge, water and trim his entire back yard..Nice pool, spends $4-500 a month to heat. WHY wouldn't you at LEAST spend $100 a year on fertilizer, weed control and water bill? Hell, I offered for free..Such a shame such a nice yard and pool has to go to crap.

Oh well...Looks like a privacy fence is in my future..I mean, seriously!

Can relate. We called the code enforcement on the crappy renters next door about the trash on the side of their house and at another place I planted oleanders where the neighbors used to cut through my lawn to their driveway. I also had a cat problem at the other place so I caught them and drove them about 7 miles away and dropped them off in the woods. I did get one of the wild kittens to calm down and gave it to my wife's brother who still has it. Cameras have helped too since a lot of the stuff the neighbors were doing was too petty to waste the time of the police. Problems solved for me. As far as other peoples un-kept lawns, it bothers me but it shows me that they have no pride in what they have and makes me work that much harder to make mine look the best to make them look even worse.

I say call the ordinance officer and put a huge log to block his path, then you'll feel a huge weight lifted of your shoulders from one less thing to worry about. After all what can they say about, it is all legal.

I understand exactly how you feel. My previous next door neighbor had two dogs, 9 cats and didn't clean anything. They wouldn't pick up the dog crap in their yard and their cats would go through our garbage cans. I would come out in the morning and the trash bags would be tore open and trash spilled all over. My wife and I couldn't sit out back because the stench of dog crap was so strong it was as if it was on a plate on our patio table.

They wouldn't even mow their lawn. Finally after trying to talk to them I called the township and dog catcher. Don't get me wrong I love animals(we have a dog of our own) but I spent $3200 on landscaping and another $3000 on concrete work which we should be able to enjoy without smelling the local landfill next door.

To make a long story short they foreclosed on the house and now no one cuts the lawn but me. The township points to the bank and we can't find out who the bank is

i know a guy at work had the same problem with cats in his yard...so he watered the yard real good and ran a extension cord out there and when the came over he plugged it in..

he doesnt have problems with the cats anymore..

I know what you mean! I have two abandoned houses near me.
A fence won't stop the cats, they'll just jump over it, you need to keep the garage closed up tight.
Live trap the cats and take them to an animal shelter. Or you might try one of the local "cat rescue" organizations like "Cats Annonomous" to see if they will come and trap them for you.

I bet them cats are not well taken care of by the owner. Do them a favor and set out some antifreeze for them. That takes care of that problem.

Sounds like it's time to get the law involved.
You should call the cops and make a formal complaint then file a restraining order against each and everyone of those cats.

Put your house up for sale, and move on. Its not worth the aggravation. Its one thing to have one crappy neighbor, but to be completely surrounded?... its time to move on. I wouldnt do anything to retaliate, its not the right way. Kharma has a way of working things out in life, and its far better to take the high road and be able to sleep at night with a clear concscience vs feeling bad something happened due to getting even. Nah.. As much as its a pain in the butt to move, moving on may be the simplest solution.

Just my opinion but, moving/running away isn't always the best solution. You will always encounter people that don't live up to your standards, doesn't really matter where you live. We are all different, were raised differently, have different levels of morals and values. Some people just don't care at all about what others think or consider what they are doing to be a menace.

Yea...sort of.

They are in for the year and will not see them again until April.

I will assess my stability and finances over the winter. I usually do great over the winter because I am in the hot tub with my friends outside and neighbors are not outside.

It is fine in May and June but gets real old by July with all the BS. Grass looks like [censored], yard looks like [censored], weeds everywhere..crap and garbage blowing around the yard....trees growing in the gutters. No lie. It is disgusting.

Great fences make great neighbors...starting to believe that.

Fences or shrubs. Put up some trellis and grow hops, excellent twining vining growth, won't stick out into the driveway, and doesn't need a permit. And the hops aroma is great.

I hated picking up trash out of my yard when I came home from work from the crappy renters next door.
