Hi, my 68 Bird has a 76 400 and the timing indicators on the timing cover are rusted and too faint to make out, so I cant check timing (my distributor was loose). I don't even know where 0 is. It looks like a bolt on, can I get a replacement? Jason
What you can do to get you in the ballpark. Bring the no. 1 cylinder up to TDC compression stroke (dist. rotor pointing to no. 1 cylinder) Use the balancer mark to reference the rusted timing indicator and mark with something you can see. That's your 0 degree point. You'll need an advance timing light to adjust from that point on.
