I've haven't been doing the restoration thing for too long. I bought my first Firebird around 3 years ago. But I think it would be helpfull to start a thread that has our community's restoration websites and blogs so that someone starting can have some advice columns, picture references, ideas for resto-mods..etc. Also give folks a chance to show off their rides if they want.
I hear you on that Dave. I had been planning on making a really basic website with pictures last winter. never came to fruition. Not enough hours in the day anymore.
68' Firebird 400 convertible, numbers matching, solar red w/ deluxe parchment interior. 66' Pontiac Ventura Hardtop 66' Pontiac Catalina Convertible
For sure, and the few web page programs I have tried take too much time to figure out...u think they would have an easy drag n drop piece of software.
(BTW, I am half way thru the manual...for some reason I have had to do it almost page by page, as the paper size is non standard and fools the copier into scanning only part. We just got a new version of the Toshiba multifunction boat anchor, so am anxious to try it out)
I try to keep them current, just as a record of the work I do on it. Sometimes I think this is better than reciepts of work done. I still need to update my Vintage air install.
I use an old version of Dreamweaver for my website and use the free (public) webspace provided by my Service provider. Most ISP's have public space that you have for free that most people don't ever use. Have a look at the details in your ISP agreement. I have learned so much from other people's pictures and sites (like FGF)over the years, that I thought I might as well give something back. I have lots of fun with it and have had lots of good feedback over the last year, so what the heck.
I have an older copy of Dreamweaver, but after a half hour gave up as the learning curve seemed long. I am pretty good with most software too...I may try googles...
I got a book called Teach yourself "Visually" Dreamweaver MX and did the quick start section. It did take a bit of practice to get the hang of it. It was a couple of years ago but I would imagine there are newer, more user friendly programs out there now that will do the job.
Here is my site. It has a section for my firebird but is mostly the old truck I have had for 10 years . My first addiction that I am trying to finish so I can turn the firebird into a nice daily driver and one color car.
