I just replaced my starter on my 68 bird and cant remember which wire goes to which terminal. Obviously the big wire goes on the big copper lug, but does it make a difference where the other two wires go? The terminals are marked "r" and "s" so I assume there is a difference in which wire needs to go to each one?

The yellow provides power to the coil from the R terminal.
The purple comes from the ignition switch and engages the solenoid (which is a relay which engages the starter). If you hook up the purple to the R, it will backfeed the solenoid. Double check before turning the key.
