I have a 67 and I'm putting all of the wiring back in the car at this point. I bought this years ago as a project and not sure if all parts were there. When I went to put the rear harness in and connect it under the dash I couldnt find anything to plug it into. There's a couple of other female fitting under there that also dont look to have the male counter parts. Is there some type of "t or y-harness" that plugs into the rear harness and the rest of the under dash harness? I hope someone knows what I'm talking about because I'm kind of lost at this point and cant find any pictures of this area on the net so far. Any help would be greatful. Nick

I remember that the rear harness plugs into the front dash harness at the extreme LH side near the fuse panel. Right above the kick panel.

Either I'm pretty blind and stupid (which is real possible) or I'm missing something. I understand all the conections except the one in the picture thats further to the left. Man, if anyone has a picture or some more words of wisdom that would be great. I can not find anything that the rear harness would plug into. Nick

Ok, 2nd picture I see stuff I recognise and something I should not see inside the car, let alone under the dash.
The partial round terminal is for the steering column. I think the smaller rectangular terminal is for the instrument cluster.
But I swear the rectangular terminal with the little nub on the LH side (the one you are most concerned about) is the forward light harness bulkhead connector. That connects to the fuse panel on the ENGINE side of the firewall and connects the front headlights.

Yep that's the main rear harness connector but I'm baffled when it comes to plugging it in. Wouldnt this be in plain sight? I'll look again to the left tonight, but last night I even took a flash light out and I couldnt seem to find it. Hopefully I will find it and feel stupid once I do. Pictures would be great if anyone had any. Does anyone know what the female plug is for on the far left closer to the back of the cowl (Black thin rectangular).
Thanks again for the help, Nick

I'm going to take a wild stab at an idea based on the last two comments and what I saw last night in the 2nd photo.
Take a good look at the rectangular male terminal on the upper left side with the tang at the top and bottom and the nub on the upper left side. I'm beginning to wonder if you have the front light harness inside the car thinking it's the rear light harness.
There ARE both 4 headlights and 4 tail lights...

Thanks Salmon but it is the rear harnes. Just down from that connector theres a switch for the door and a plug for a courteous light. From there it runs all the way back to the rear.

My interior, including the kick panels, are still out of my '67. So I took a look under my dash.
Sorry to tell you this, but your "what is this for" connector is connected to my rear lighting harness. The corresponding male connector is 2 rows, white in color, and has the matching nib in the middle of one side.
See for yourself:
I still stand by your "rear light harness" being the bulkhead connector for the front light harness. I got a broken spare up in the attic that I could photograph if necessary. It's an image I know well due to me breaking my 1st brand new harness at the upper tab of the connector - a $150 "oops".

We'll I got this car in parts and there were extras in the boxes for sure. I already have my front harness plugged in at the fire wall and routed to the front. I'm now wondering if this rear harness is for another car ( I almost thought that from the start). Thanks so much for the picture and hangin in there with me. Now at least I have something to move forward on. Again thanks a lot and I'll let you know what comes out of all of this.

that just cant be right...its too 'clean'....its supposed to look like a bowl of different color spaghetti under there...at least if 2 or more people has owned the car before!
My car is only suppose to have 65,000 original on it. By the looks of most of the car it's probably true. I have really no way to document that due to the project switching hands a couple of times in the past (to bad it's not a 400 ram air, but oh well). But ya, the wiriing is pretty well intact. You know I was looking at a rear harness for a 68 that is on ebay right now and I noticed that the harness looks identical to what I have. It has the same plug on the end that mine has. I'm wondering if there is a possibility of a pig tail or something of the sort that connects from the plug that Salmon identified as the rear harness plug and the harness that I have. Any thoughts from anyone would be great.

Sorry to beat a horse that should be dead but I found this harness on Ebay and it looks just like mine, but it's listed for a 68. http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL906/4312344/9078820/377711509.jpg I'm wondering if there's different harness's between the 2 years and if Convertible to hard top make a difference. Anyway looks like I'll be in need of a rear harness for a 67 convertible if anyone has a line on one.
Thanks, Nick

I just looked up wiring harnesses at Ames. The main dash harnesses are all different numbers between '67 and '68 along with the rear light harness numbers being different. And there are different rear light harnesses between coupe and covertible because of the dome light.

It's funny I just had time myself to look some harness's up and sure enough 67 and 68 are different. Looks like I have myself a rear harness for a 68 convertible. Shame to it's in pretty darn good shape. I guess I'll be selling this one or trading to get the proper harness for my car. Thanks again for all the help. I really appreciate your patience.

I remember the wiring on my 1st project - an 80 Turbo T/A. The more I examined the wiring, the more splices and electrical tape I found.
My present '67 WAS a rats nest under the dash. Aftermarket gauges mounted under the dash and an alarm system did not help. Between the age of the original wires, the greasy mess that they were and all the taps and splices over the cars lifetime - I decided to replace ALL the wiring.
Nothing like spending years and big bucks so you can see your car burn to the ground.
