What is the correct color for the engine paint for 1968? Mine is greenish blue in color. Does anyone have a brand and number for me to order? The one I orignially ordered is not correct. It is a pontiac metallic blue which is incorrrect. Thanks.

Over the years, the metallic blue changes to a greenish tone. There were a lot of engines repainted in the 70s and 80s with incorrect paint simply because the correct colors were not readily available.

Earlier Pontiacs used a non-metallic turquoise; later models used blue and turquoise.

All these links list these numbers as the correct color for your '68. Hope this helps smile

This color is well documented and listed in Pontiac master parts catalogs.
Ames PN431 or N182
Bill Hirsch Auto Reported to be high quality paint.
Hirsch lists this is being used through 1972 which is incorrect!
Classic Industries Blue Poly 62200

Plasti-Kote 227
PPG/Ditzler 13255
POR-15 Pontiac Metallic Blue They recommend a silver base coat first. Paint is reportedly difficult to apply, takes a long time to dry and does not look exactly like the factory color. This color is no longer listed on their website.

bill hirsch autoparts has the correct high-temp engine paint in spray can or by brush. I choose brush because it is a thicker application. The paint is for a 68 model. here is there number. 1-800-828-2061

I used Bill Hirsch also...supposedly the best paint, also brushed sinceI did mine in place, but I`ve heard that the thinner you coat on the exhaust ports the longer it lasts, so I`d get spray if you can ....
