Apologies if this has already been discussed...

I'm interested in installing safest possible seat belts in a 68 convertible that my son and I are finishing a complete restoration on. The car only had lap belts (original?) when I bought it, but my son is going to drive the car and I'd like to install shoulder harnesses for additional safety. (If it were up to my wife we'd have air bags and full roll cage).

Any advice or suggestions are appreciated.

not so sure if it truely is safer, you might be better off not wearing ANY belrs at all, LOL!

No, I saw a pic once of a vert with a shoulder belt. Not so easy I think, to find a nice place to attach it, without it looking weird. I'ld be interested in suggestions from members and seeing some pics...

My '69 convertible has the original shoulder harnesses. It's not all that "weird" looking but does not lend itself to automatic usage.

My suggestion would be to find three point belts long enough to mount like the originals.

The Fisher Body manual shows how to mount them.
