Silly Question here. If I was to swap out the Pontiac 350 in my 68 Bird with a 400, can I use any of the parts from my 350 on the 400? Such as the manifold, water pump, heads, etc. Not including pistons and crank.
The heads, manifold and water pump may be reused. I beleive the crank can also be swapped since they had the same stroke (3.75) and 3.00 main bearing size. You might run into issues with too high a compression ratio on the heads, but depends what heads you have. I have a pair of 1973 350 heads on my 400 engine. You'll want to use the timing cover you have for that 68 water pump also.
Heads, maybe. You will spend $$ on gaskets and such. Carb and intake...depends.
You have a set of heads that flow "X" and a carb that flows "X" and a manifold that flows"X" as long as the carb and intake are a 4 bbl, maybe.
Need to know what head codes, intake and carb. As well, you have a 400 cam (unknown) and all these parts need to compliment as to not cause engine to run poorly.
The brackets and pulleys will swap over.
