I installed new power top pump in my 67 convrt and the switch seemed to operate intermitantly, so I installed an new switch, still same problem in fact now the up direction doesn't seem to work at all. I now wonder if the switch was origially wired right? Does anyone have a schematic showing how this should be wired in? My manuals don't seem to show this part of the wiring. Thanks in advance for any help Louie
Make sure your pump is grounded properly. Regardless of the way the switch is wired, it should operate the pump. If the wires are crossed "up" will be "down" and vice versa. Also, check the hot wire coming from the fuse block.
Unless your harness end had been cut off like mine was, the connector should match up properly with the new switch.
Also, check the circuit breaker in the engine compartment. It's a small rectangular two post relay mounted just above the Master Cylinder or power booster on the firewall near the cowl tag. This is for the power top and power windows/seat etc... This is a $2 part that may go out from time to time...
I still have to fill my system and give it a try! (one more thing on the ever growing list...)
