Bought a 67 about 1 month ago. Guage worked fine when I drove the car home. I filled it up for the first time and the red indicator seems to be over rotated past the F (moved too far clockwise). It doesn't seem to want to move down into the normal range. Should I run the tank down to empty an see if anything changes? Any suggestions?
Sounds like a typical GM gas gauge. Mine sits on or above F for 1/3 of a tank. Then drops from "F" to just above "E" in the next 1/3, then sits on "E" for the last 1/3.
It's way better than when it read 1/2 tank as it ran out of gas on the highway in the middle of no where.
