Alright guys, What insurance does everyone carry? I'm sure this has been covered before but....State Farm wants about $200 a year for antique car coverage(less than 500 miles per and only driven in parades and to car shows and such). Not sure of the other peticulars. Seems to me someone awhile back said their's was $60 per yr.
Does Hagerty insure Canadian vehicles? I don't think they do.Do any Canadian Bird owners Have Hagarty? If not who are you using to insure? I always used to just use a regular policy. I'm thinking of the "Silver wheel" plan now. Does anyone use this and if so how are they for coverage and driving specifics? Thanks. David.

Grundy, just had it raised to $20K....for $146 /yr...I can drive 4K miles ( I asked for that), needs to be garaged , no driving to /from office or shopping malls , nobody under 25 to drive it....but I do take it to work once in awhile....just not regularly... have only heard good comments from people needing to "cash in" from them
I think State Farm uses another company for underwriting, you just pay them the bill. Check your insurance certificate. My Hagerty policy, bought through Allstate, is now underwritten by Great Falls. I have heard only good things about Hagerty's claims department, policy includes roadside assistance, no mileage limit, must be stored in locked garage, you choose the value at which you wish to insure your car.

I just talked to a guy with a 454 Lemans and a 350 Chevy Vega. He said Hagerty told him they could not insure it becuase it didn't have the original engine. Anyone else heard of this? If I put in a 455 are they going to dump me?
I just had Hagarty do the Ins. on my 1970 GP. $15000,roadside assistance, ect for $154.00 a year. Hard to beat that. (they didn't ask about my engine. just ask if I had put in any racing engines. Will be using them on my Firebird as soon as its ready for the road.
I have always been with hagerty. Mine currently has $24000 agreed value,no deductible,no mileage limits, cannot be used for daily commute, roadside assistance included for $179 per year.Only problem was a little flack from them for having the car off,on,off,on the road over the last 4 years. Overall I think you would be happy with them.P.S. Buy some film!!
I'd contact Hagerty with the engine question. They didn't ask me too many questions, mostly the value of the car and to provide photos. I know they don't want to insure highly modified cars because that is considered a higher-risk class of owners than fully restored original vehicles. If a replacement engine is equivalent to or similar to one offered by the factory I don't see how they could have a problem with that, especially if the car is a nice resto.
I emailed digital photos to my agent, who then sent them on to Hagerty. That saved a few bucks in film and processing. I upped my coverage to $25,000 this year, from $15,000 last year.

Hagarty, I am going to put my 31 coupe on this policy. you guys all made me a believer in this co. thanks to all of you. I will let you all know what they say and how much Wade
I have State Farm - mainly because my family was in the business for so long. My uncle is my agent now and I have my home, life insurance, my family car and both '69 Firebirds with them. No problem on coverage - I have $20,000 on my convertible and I think around $5,000 on my project 350 HO.
Not sure of premiums, but I know its not much. I had the option of having an "antique" plate, which I have, with the normal driving limits. My policies also go towards my "multi-car" discount on my other car.
I have a business associate in the Detroit area that owns a real nice body shop that does quite a bit of repair work on classic/muscle cars for Hagerty with no problems. Hagerty pays him to get it right - no questions. He does top flight body and paint work. His specialty is First Gen Camaro's so if you need body work done and want it done right on your First Gen Firebird, let me know.

Bob is a dedicated first gen. Camaro guy. I saw one of his '69 Camaro convertibles he was putting quarters on. His finish work was metal - no body filler. You could not see where he had cut and welded in the replacement quarter panels. I was impressed.
Bob is a stickler for quality and wants to get paid for it - nothing wrong with that in my book.
He loves the muscle cars and works on all years/models. He has some pretty talented metal men that will do it the right way.
He also does late model insurance work - again to the same high standards.
Give him a call or go by and check out his new facility - you will be impressed.
Thanks, Tom. He's more than a few miles from me, but I will talk to him. I've never tried doing restoration quality bodywork or paint but appreciate a quality job.
