Cant find the info on this block code . It's a Pontiac even with the tacky red paint.

Without the block casting number it could be anything. Casting number is on pass side back edge of block near where the tranny bolts up to it. What are the heads casting numbers?

The number above the YT is the engine unit number. It can generally be found on the matching PHS. There is also a VIN down next to the timing cover behind the lower radiator hose.

The 1st letter is for either auto(Y) or manual(W) trans.
2nd letter?...maybe for type of engine build like cam with matching distributor and carb, etc.?

A red 68/69 YT casting number 9790071 is not a good engine.

I have a 9790071 YC block that looks like it is out of a 68' B-Body car (based on all the websites with code info). Your lucky though, your YT was out of an F-Body !!! and it made 330HP stock, mine was only 290HP stock...

I have a place to put that block also...
