For anyone interested, I have set up a google group in a similar fashion as the FirstGenFirebird google group. The Primary difference being that this site is dedicated to the FGF Cannonbird Run and I would prefer that we keep the topics and discussions related to this event. Anyone wishing to be addded to the email list just simply let me know at fgfcannonbird...@yahoo.com and I'll be happy to add you. Please let me know if you want to get all emails as they come in, condensed (a few bulk emails per day) or just the one at the end of each day containing all of the days activity.
Firebob, The FGF Cannonbird Run is the Nationwide gathering of First Generation Firebirds that we have been discussing for a few months under the Show Organization Tab. We are meeting in Estes Park, CO Aug. 13 - 15 2010. We have been setting up events and getting things laid out for guest speakers, the Car Show and a couple of scenic cruises through the Rocky Mountains. Here is the webpage for those of you that have yet to see it... http://fgfcannonbirdrun.yolasite.com/ There is a "Contact Us" tab on the page as well as a comment section. Feel free to make comments or suggestions there or join the google group here to keep informed of happenings.
As of right now, I have about 25 RSVP's from the website. I know there are probably a dozen of us from Houston, there are almost 40 cars in CO alone, there are a few coming from the FL area, WA has a few, NorthEast has a few dedicated... we are thinking around 100 or so at this point. I truly hope for more, but I think alot of people are going to wait and see how this one goes... my $.02 So, I'll safely say around 100, but the more the merrier!
I think the most 1st gens I've seen at a show has been 4 or 5 at once. 100 would be quite a gathering. Will there be sponsors or vendors attending? Maybe Ames, CI, Year one? Maybe a swap meet on the side?
WOW!!! 4 or 5? We do that here in Houston usually once and sometimes twice a week. So far, The Paddock will be there. We are working on other Sponsors and Vendors. We are in the process of designing a flyer for obtaining sponsors. The idea for Friday night is a "white elephant" FGF trivia type game. No real plans for a swap meet as of yet. If you look at the website Schedule Tab, its gonna be quite busy! Maybe in future events? If you have any ideas for sponsors or vendors, or would like to be involved in that aspect of the organization, your help would be greatly appreciated, especially since you are in CO. Let me know and I will get you in touch with the other guys there in CO. fgfcannonbirdrun@yahoo.com or shelcon38342@yahoo. or join the google group I have set up http://groups.google.com/group/fgf-cannonbird-run
We've had 23 First Gen Convertibles all together at one time up here in Seattle, and I think there were 18 "non-vert's there too.
My plans are changing a bit, so I'm not quite sure how it's going to work out as far as bringing the Bird, but one way or another I'll be there... I hope I can figure out a way to bring the bird...
