Looking for some advice. I have 14X7 Rally II wheels which appear to be originals for a 69. Code is KS.
I have not been able to get them properly balanced and was considering new replacements. Prices between AMES, NPD and Classic Industries seems to be similar. any opinions or experience?
There are tones of used 14x7's out there. I'd go with a restored set before new repros.
What do you mean by properly balanced? Is one or more bent?
Maybe all you need to do is replace one or two, or have them straightened?
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. 68tpls, is correct, there are tons of them out there. My friend Mike usually buys any 14" or 15" Rally IIs we can find at any swap meets and he will not pay more than $25 each. When we get them home he checks them over, some are good and some are not.
It's just a matter of finding a good set. They are definately out there. In fact, we have had two different guys at cruise nights come up to us and ask if we wanted complete sets of four for free!
I have a set of 4 14x7 wheels I believe they are 1970 wheels, I don't have codes in front of me. I also have paint and masking kit for them. They have been blasted and primed. I ended up going to 15" for my Disc setup. I have been going to finish and sell, haven't had the time................... If you go repro you will have an impossible mission I believe in finding the right Trim Rings............
Theres are tons of rallys out there, but, wether or not they are the correct ones for your car depends on the codes.
If you dont care about the codes, yep, tons out there at swap meets, craigslist, etc.
But if you want the correct codes for your year, it can take a bit longer to get a correct matching set. I believe 69, V8s, were the JK codes? (I dont have anything in front of me at the moment, but I think thats the codes.)
yes ,you can fine good used, they dont fioxe steel wheels well, if they were aluminum ,you could easily get them straightened...
when I got mine "new" used rims...I had three bent rims (from prev owner), that when I found the Buick rims I use...all chrome ,so no need for trim rings (that you can scuff or loose), and the price was right...$35 /rim , all straight! just fyi.
