I'm reassembling my engine the heads are marked B056 on drivers and B196 on pass. useing an edelbrock performer intake I have an exposed jurnal in the center of the head above the square jurnal for the cross feed air.9Between intake and valve cover) Whats up this can't be the right setup but it was working fine when I tore it down?
Some 6X heads can be a good starting point depending on what you are building. Between the first and second spark plug hole From left to right) is a boss with a number stamped on it. That number will tell you which variety of 6X heads you have.
That exposed area is a dead-end cavity and won't be an issue unless you run a pre-1972 factory manifold.
The gasket you need is the '72-'79 intake set. Felpro part no. MS90205. The center holes for the crossover are "small" on both sides to assure a complete seal. The gaskets with the "taller" hole are for the earlier engines ('71-back) and require "special" work to seal off the crossover heat. Your Edelbrock Performer has the "smaller" holes on both sides.
