Only covers emergent care at the locality. With most policies, if you want to go back to the States, it's on your nickle. My mom had the choice to airlift my dad to Houston. $10,000 out of pocket. Abroad , if you dont have extra insurance may be costly anyway...we`ll see what Obama care will do...but when I came from Sweden to the US I had to have a surgery after being here 3 months (I was still under Swedish health care)...called ins co in Sweden "we cover everything", found out later that that wasnt the case... I received $15 = $5/day I was hospitalized , since I wasnt working in Sweden...they regarded me as "student or housewife" ....and since doctor was "free" in Sweden I did not get reimbursed for him ,and since hospital was "free" in Sweden ,no reimbursement for it ...

Sal, I think you're parents got very lucky. Sounds like they got quality treatment. Hard to believe things have changed that much in the last 12-13 years. Overall we all thought so. Even despite the issue that my father died 4 days after the sucessful surgery during his daily PT exercises due that 1 in a million chance we all face in every surgery - a blood clot that got loose and hit the lungs. He definitely WAS given blood thinners, but... I was trying to avoid this part of it, but in order to be totally fair...

So is this true? If so, get well soon Terry.
If not, in the immortal word of Cartman: "Screw you guys, I'm going home."
You can buy specific insurance for this kind of thing when you go on a cruise.

I have noticeed that Terry has been conspiciously absent. He usually pops in even while he is cruising. So we do wish him a speedy recovery (just in case. )

I completely shattered my femur in 1989 after a motorcycle accident. My favorite person in the world, Dr. Chip Routt in Seattle put me back together using a surgery procedure that he developed himself. I was the second person in the world that he tried it on. After inserting 12 pins, two screws, a plate and a long rehab, I can walk again without a limp. With todays advances in medicine, I'm confident Terry will be fine. Best wishes Terry!!!

It's in code. Move down and left of each key on your keybooard; as written (sort of) it reads "so true, Bjorn." Responding to Bjorn's comment about insurance.
His fingers must be a bit groggy too.
