I have no gone thru 2 aftermarket cables in 5000 miles. I am using the 63" one for a 400-4speed. Seems a bit of a stretch with a few fairly sharp bends. Is this the right length?
I am lubing them before installation so am friggin stumped here...
Good question on length. Mine came with a two piece cable and need to replace as well. NPD is the only place I've found with the upper and lower cables. I wonder if that's what you need?
The +/- 68 length is for the 4 speed? Sounds better as it may give me a few extra inches to effect a smoother bend...seems to work fine for 1000 miles then the speedo starts jumping then it snaps....frustrating....wondering if the copies are crap as well....
What would be the purpose of a 2 piece unless you had cruise control? Not sure there but I do see them as well in the catalogue, which is unclear (CI's anyhow)

My cable comes out on the passenger side and currently up along the bell housing, accross, and in to the angled cable hole in the firewall....but thats how I made the one sold to me work....well, for awhile!
I'm pretty sure I had 63" cables. a 67-68" might be just enough to relax the bends a little. I'm going to check with GM here and see if I can get one thru them, unless they want ridiculous $...
Tired of yanking the cluster out, gotta get it right this time!
My 68 is on the Drivers side and I know it's not upside down as the stick comes out through the floor. Maybe it's in backwards, how many reverse gears are we supposed to have? GM mixed and matched parts throughout the production line and one car may have a different tail housing than the next. One with a left side speedo adapter and the next with a right, or so I've been told, not having been there.
