Okay, were these used in conjunction with the plastic bumper fillers or by themselves? If by themselves, does anyone have a picture of a finished car with them because I have the choice of going either way.
If I remember right, the rubber ones were used in '67, the metal ones in '68. They were NOT used together.

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that '67 were metal and '68 was plastic. Maybe it's an early/late '67 thing? These were attached to the front inner tabs on my fenders. I sure would like to know what they look like on a finished car before I use them.

I like the metal mainly because if you prep and paint them right, they last as long as a paint job.I have some rubber ones Ive collect over a few years,They get hard and brittle. As for looks you dont really notice them unless you look for them. The 400 car is my daughters(16 years old),that was her choice for her first car.The ho is mine, still under resto. and no where near orig. The sprint is a parts car,a tree fell on it before I ever got it.
BTW, the rubber ones are now being reproduced. Both Ames and Classic Industries have them.

Would you paint them matte black or body color? I think the metal ones will be easier for me because my bumper filler doesn't have the necessary holes for the plastic ones. I just wasn't sure that they would close up the gap as well as the plastic ones.
Salmon,
Yes, I've seen the repros listed but have three pairs of plastic ones and figured at least one pair could be reconditioned.
Hammered, They do go in behind the bumper some what , but arent as tight as the rubber fillers. The 400 car that my daughter has had semi-gloss black on them like the engine compartment had.Her car was a unmolested un restored car when I got it.The engine was missing, sure could use a good yt 400 block(early 67).It has a 69 engine now.
