was wondering if anyone could help me with my 1967 bird. I have a ye code on the front of my block but can't find reference of that code in a 1967. I am assuming that the block is from some other year but would like to know where to start looking. I was a Mopar guy and just becoming educated in the ways of pontiac. It was sold as a 400 but saw a YE code for a 350 too. Any help in which way to proceed would be appreciated. Also the transmission is a 3 speed with but the tag reads 73 P2D........my initial response was WTF...can anyone help me with identifying that tranny too..........thanks
So far i've figured out that the tranny is a 375thm and have read that they are a lighter duty. Was wondering if this is an issue at all and where it might have come from with a tag that has been polished and the only numbers i can read are 73 P2D. The engine has been rebuilt befor i bought the car 3 months ago and i'm just trying to find out some info. I'm not able to read the numbers by the distributor and can only get the front block id which reads 106548 YE. would appreciate any help in where i go to find info on this block
The 106548 is a stamping, not a casting and is the engine motor unit number. The engine block casting number is behind the passenger side head and between head and firewall.
If you were to do a search on EBay for "Pontiac Block" you will be able to find descript pictures denoting the location of said casting number to alleviate speculation.

The codes at the rear of the block are pretty tough to see if 1) the hood is on, and 2) if the block is pretty grungy.

Thew are letters and nummers on it, but they are not too clear. I wrote them down adn checked the other site but the code is not there. is the car year and engine year diferent?
