Ok, I know this should be easy, but I am removing everything from the dash so that I can sand, and repaint it, I am still having issues getting the ignition switch out, but I have the instructions for that. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips/tricks for the lighter socket removal, 67 bird so all is in the dash.
As usual any help is appreciated. After that is is finish up the wiring, put the pedals, and interior back in, and see if she starts.

The lighter has a threaded ring on the inside of the dash that retains it. You'll have to pull the cluster, which I'll assume you're doing anyway to get at it.

You need to pull the lock cylinder out first before you can get the switch/bezel off. Use a paper clip in the small hole in the face of the cylinder, put the key in and turn(can't remember if it's left or right)and the cylinder should come free.

I just tackled this on my '69. I've had the new cigarette lighter bezel for 8 years but never figured out (or took the time to) how to replace it.

Today I finally did it! As mentioned above, it needs to unscrew from behind the dash. It is accessible without taking the cluster off, you just need to crawl underneath on your back. Also mine was rusted on good, so I used some PB Blaster soaking for 30 min. to loosen it. After that was able to unscrew it by hand, no tools needed.
