Anyone know what I should look at? It's pretty new (a second one, I tried two and returned one). Maybe just the crappy re-manufacturing? Ever rebuilt a pump?
I use ATF in my setup (because that's what the original cap says - never had a problem), but I tried regular PS fluid too and it was louder.
The gear itself I rebuilt with a master kit and used my inch-lb wrench to set all the preloads perfect. There is no play in it whatsoever now. It wasn't too hard, 4 hrs work. (after searching for one of the black recirculating balls I dropped in my garage for 45 min)
Strange, GM pumps typically don't cause any noise issues. Try driving it for a bit to see if it "breaks in" I know Ford had a break in period of 500 miles on some of there older remanf. units.
