Hello, My name is Chris and I am new to the forum. I have always been an F-Body but the majority of my cars have been Camaro's except a very nice 79 silver anniversary TA I owned years ago. I just purchased a 1967 Firebird 326HO since my wife fell in love with the car, its a documented 2 owner (1st owner 1967-2008)that has a huge amount of paperwork. The car is a 326 HO car with AC, it was originally a vinyl top car but when the owner decided to do a repaint in 1985 he had it removed and added a 400 hood. The purist are probably cringing but it was 1985! the car has 57000 original miles, the interior is 100% original down to the carpet, the AC blows cold, all the sheetemetal is original along with all the exterior trim. the 1985 paint job was of the highest quality and looks like it was just painted last month. he then parked the car in a climate controlled garage and did not plate it from 1985-2008, he did take it out twice a year and drive it and went to a few parades but only put 1200 miles on the car in that 25 year period. the engine and transmission have never been touched besides servicing, I have the original owners manual, protecto-plate and warranty manual. the car "floats" down the road, the undercarriage has never been touched and has a slight rust patena but absolutly no rot. since I am a Camaro guy I am no good at knowing what a well documented car like this worth? this is the wife and I's "keeper" since I will never probably find another low mile documented original car like this in my lifetime that I could afford. So give a "newbie" some imput. here are some pics...
Looks beautiful! In today's market, ballpark 14k - 16k. A few years ago it might have pulled low 20's.
Do you have the original build sheet or dealer invoice? If not, you might want to get PHS documentation on it.
Passenger mirror would not be original, red rally caps should be black. It looks like perhaps '69 or newer rally wheels.
Rear suspension looks too high. Must have new springs.
I'd keep it! Mind tossing out what you paid for it or where /how you found it?
great job! Post some engine pics too.
I have been looking everywhere for a nice set of tan floor mats for my gold '67. Want to trade for black?
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. I feel like I am diagonally parked in a parallel universe. 1968 400 convertible (Scarlet) 1976 T/A - 455 LE (No Burt) 1976 T/A New baby, starting full restoration. 1968 350 - 4 speed 'vert - 400 clone (the Beast!) 1968 350 convertible - Wife's car now- 400 clone (Aleutian Blue) (Blue Angel) 2008 Durango - DD 2008 GXP - New one from NH is AWESOME! 2017 Durango Citadel - Modern is nice! HEMI is amazing! 1998 Silverado Z71 - Father-daughter project 1968 400 coupe - R/A clone (Blue Pearl) (sold) 1967 326 convertible - Sold 1980 T/A SE Bandit - Sold
I paid right in that range, I got it from a guy thats a GM at a Ford dealership up by Joliet, he didnt really want to sell it but he hasnt driven it at all since he bought it in 08 and knew that my wife and were going to keep the car and not just flip it. I know the passenger mirror was not original, I have the original rims with spoked hubcaps and some nice old bias-ply tires that I would not trust at any speed, he added the rims that are on the car now. I just ordered the PHS documentation today. I pulled the backseat but no build sheet, I know they stuck them under the carpet, pass seat, pass floorboard and dashboard sometimes so I am going to start looking around in those places this weekend...
Jerry, There was a guy from Quincy named Travis, had a dark blue 67 or 68 Bird, tan interior, small block chevy and a 4 speed. I tried trading him my 67 Prostreet for a long time and then I started looking at the closeups of the car and someone had covered the firewall where the AC used to be with a fabricated cover that looked weird. Needless to say I didnt end up trading him.
67 326 H.O.'s are getting hard to come by and with some options it all adds up. With it's originality and documentation, I'd say you picked up a pretty good deal and it's probably worth more than you aid for it from what it sounds.
My build sheet was in the passenger front seat when I went to recover them...
sheet could be in a number of places as described. also possible to be in the vent panel area. stuffed into the back seateither back or lower section. also under carpet as you describe, gas tank, package tray area.

due to budget cutbacks, the light at the end of the tunnel has been disconnected for non payment.
The missing vinyl top and added 400 hood don't affect the value at all. Those changed could easily be undone by someone wanting the car exactly as it came from the factory. I have two 350 hoods if you really want one.
I did pull the passenger side sill plate last night to look under the carpet for the sheet, didnt see it but I did find the part number tag with a build date for the carpet assembly at the rear corner of the front half of the carpet. quess that means the carpet is original, I am going to document it with some pics tommorow and keep looking for that build sheet...
still searching for the broadcast sheet but thought it was interesting that the car does have its factory carpet and the front half is actually 2 seperate pieces with left and right parts numbers. heres a shot of the left side front carpet tag.

I talked to him, even tried to get him to go back to pontiac motor, offered him one but he wants a chevy 400, He hasnt talked to any of us firebird guys around here since he bought it.

there was something just not right with that car, the firewall was really weird looking and he was sure it was worth $20K all day! I had a sweet 67 Camaro RS prostreet with a full tubular backhalf and a stroker 496 big block pump gas motor that I was gonna trade him till I asked for some "detailed" pics of his car. glad I didnt rade, I wouldnt have the car I have today!
You got the best of the 2 by a long way, I cant remember but I was told what he paid and I'm sure it was closer to 10, he wanted a set of traction bars off a parts car I had to put on it. now he is trying to trade it for a 20's-30's street rod. If you are ever closer to the area with the car we'd love to check it out, my buddy has a 69 vert he's restoring and I'm doing 2 coups
