They are really comfortable. I got the Corbeau Sports seats with the optional lumbar uncovered so a shop could make them look like my rear seats.
The problem is that the Camaro seat frames they give you make it so that the OEM seat belt retractors won't fit. Since the seatbelt issue was found way after I got the seats and had them covered, I had a friend cut and reweld the seat frames to move the seats a bit closer to the center of the car.
You could also go aftermarket on the seat belts and the seat position will be fine.

Mine's a '67. The frames positioned the seats far enough outboard that the seat would not move forward and aft with the thick plastic covered factory seat belt retractors mounted up against the rocker panels.
Don't take me wrong, I can't stand working on one of these cars for years and spending tons of money so that I can sit in the uncomfortable original seats. I made that mistake once.
These Corbeau seats are great. It's just that it's not a direct bolt-in. But what we do here is called "hot rodding" for a reason; modifying stuff a little to fit is part of what we enjoy.

Thanks again, what I don't understand is the 'seat belt retractors'. Do you actually have spring loaded devices that rewind the belts onto a spool or do you mean the attachment points where the belts bolt to the floor? Excuse me if that sounds ignorant, but my belts just bolt to the floor with a plastic cover over the bottom four inches or so. I bought the car about four years ago and who knows what changes have been made in the forty years before I owned it. This is my first bird and I have no others to compare it to. Al.
What you described for the belts sounds like the inside belts with the buckle
The outside belts, with the chrome piece that fits into the buckles has a built in retractor mechanism. This mechanism sits in a rigid plastic "holder" that bolts to the inside of the rocker panel at the bottom and then does an "S" curve so that the end of the belt with the retractor sits above the door sill between the door and the seat. So yes, they are spring loaded and wind up out of the way.

salmon38, thanks for that, mine just bolt to the floor on the inboard and outboard. No retractors. I wonder if the retractable belts were an option or maybe came with the deluxe interior. Either way the seats should fit, I'll look into getting a set. Al.
If you do not have the factory seat belt retractors and are OK with the belts you have, I would definitely go for the Corbeau Sport Seats. Just about a comfy as the modern buckets in my 2006 Mustang.

The belts are fine with me as long as I don't close the door with the belt hanging out, that's an easy way for the local cops to see if one is wearing the seat belts and the driver is a bit daft.
Salmon38, Thanks for the info on the seats I will most likely get a pair. One more question for you- how is the headroom with the sport seat? I have about two inches from head to the headliner with my clapped out stock seats, do you sit much higher in the sport seat? Thanks, Al.
I put seats from a 2001 Camaro into mine. Got seat covers that had a simialr style to my orignals with solid bolsters and perferated inserts. Had to slightly modify the track mount (on the seat, not the car). Back seat and seat belts were some extensive mods.
I know that washing and waxing my car with the present condtion of my paint is like polishing a turd.....but it's my turd and I want it polished!
I finally got the Corbeau sport seats on Thurs. and installed them yesterday. I have the same problem, even without the belt retractors, the seats sit too far outboard and rub against the plastic cover at the attach point for the seat belts. I also crushed my knuckles when I moved the seat back and they pinched between the slider release lever and the frame. Very poor design there, and painful. They look good but have to come out for modification. The foam seems very stiff did yours soften up after time?
Yes, the seats soften up a bit. These days they fit and feel a lot like the nice leather front seats in my 2006 Mustang.
Which is what I was aiming for.
I missed your earlier question about seat height. I have the deep wood Pontiac Grant steering wheel so I am comfortable with the seat somewhat reclined. I am 5-10 so with the seat where I want it, I have a reasonable amount of head room.

Thanks for the reply. I'm six feet and my hair just touches the headliner when I sit up straight but after I settle in it's not a problem. I hope the seats soften up I'll have to drive around when it's really hot, that's wishful thinking around here.
I'm regretting the change now. I can live with the fitment issues and the mods but the Corbeau sport seat is the most uncomfortable seat I've ever sat in. I got about 30 miles from home and had to turn around, my back was killing me. The manufacturer told me they will break in but they feel like they're made of solid Styrofoam. I hope they'll take them back.
Sorry to here that. I bought mine uncovered and had a local hot rod interior specialist cover mine in leather to match the pattern he did on my rear seats.
Like I said, the sit is as nice as my 2006 Mustang (also leather) which my car pool buddies agree has the most comfortable seats they have ever been in.
