Why or why, must it always rain for the Jefferson, WI swap meet and car show!?!
This is really a great venue, swap meet, car show...but.. for some unknown reason, the weather Gods always make it rain during the spring and fall shows!!
Its been dry up here for weeks, but sure enough, Jefferson draws near, and the rains showed up last night, through the night it poured with Tstorms, and now another batch of rain and tstorms has rolled through.. argh...
I guess another year of waddling through mud ponds and guessing whats underneath tarps...!
I have heard that in some languages the word "jefferson" means rain. I believe it. I have certainly been wet there more than dry. It still is the best place for parts, cars too for that matter. Way better prices than Iola and a lot less junk. Had to miss this weekend but I'm looking forward to the fall meet when they are featuring convertibles on Sunday.
Hence the reason I moved to FL. When we lived in Buffalo it was either too cold, raining, snowing, cloudy or all of the above every time we wanted to do something car related. After the crappy summer of 07 I told my wife, we are moving to FL. Sold our house a month later and off we went. LOL
I could probably survive the rain alright, but when the vendors cover everything up with their blue tarps, it feels like all youre doing is walking around in puddles. After a while, I question.. why am I doing this? Then Ill see something interesting or a part Im after and suddenly it seems worth it. But way too many years its bad vs good for weather. I think sometimes the reason they do two a year is to try to beat the odds of rain. Perhaps they should split the difference and do one big show and swap meet in July for a week...heh...
I hate to complain about rain, because we are almost into our third year of drought in my area. It rained almost all day today, but was welcomed because of the extremely dry spring.
But I hear you about rainy days when car swaps and shows are on...
