I'm looking for a part called a "listing pocket retainer". Its like a small piece of unistrut that fits in the front bow of the convertible frame. I looked in all my catelogs and mushroombert in correct that no one makes it.
I can't for the life of me remember if my car ever even had one. The listing pocket of the oginal top was torn off. When I took the top apart to change out a bad frame arm and paint it, I was very carful to keep all the screws and pieces together. I just don't remember this piece.
I have a call into chicago Muscle. They never heard of the part until I called. I think they ment they never herd the part called a Listing Retainer but know what it was.
I watch 3 hours of video that I made of my car restoration. Wow! I learned alot. I took video of every bolt, shim screw, missing screws how the bolts were oriented etc... This was back in 2000 when I was taking the car apart.
From what I have seen thus far I did have this part in the front header bow.
I have two more videos to watch and I hope that maybe I covered the painting I did of the frame.
At least I know now I had the part. I typicly don't throw anything away. The question is where the heck is it?
Don't you hate that?? I spend more time now looking for the "bag of bolts for the motor mounts" or some other parts then I do actually doing the job.
Glad there is someone who can admit the same anxiety I have about this.
I think I may, in time, write a step by step "how to" with pictures of all fasteners, parts and bolts, sizes and so forth to assemble a 67-69 Firebird.
Along with correct casting and part numbers.

Didn't a group of guys already do that? I thought I saw one once.
What I found interesting watching my video was I forgot about the fiber optic light from the dash to the ashtray. I saw with some of the parts bolts were missing, I figured out I had the wrong bolts to a few pices I assembled too. This car was a real pile of crap when I started. Missing a subframe bolt and bushing on one side, cracked frame, missing bolt from the motor mount....
I was also thinking my brother has a basket case 68 catalina convertible. I would bet that same piec for the front header bow is close if not longer then the one for my car. I will have to check and if that is the case then I can expand my search to the big cars to.
