I have a 69 Convertible that I had the auto-trans replaced with a Tremec 5-Speed with overdrive manual.
Had someone make a shifter boot for me to cover the existing 7.5 inch by 3.75 inch hole left in console after the trans conversion. Didn't like the look of it at all so I took it out.
So I am looking to customize the console with a new shifter boot and trim ring large enough to cover the hole in the console.
Anyone out there have pictures of a customized job on their console that they would like to share? Also looking for any vendors to purchase quality shifter boot and/or trim rings. Thanks.
I am looking to do the same conversion. I think the direction I am heading is towards the 67 camaro manual console set up. It looks like they used the same base on 67 Camaros that we use on 67-69 Firebirds They have a trim ring that screws to where the auto shift bezel is so that it ends up with a much smaller and recessed boot for the shifter.
I know that washing and waxing my car with the present condtion of my paint is like polishing a turd.....but it's my turd and I want it polished!
I'm going to try to post some pics but it has been a while since I have done this. Bear with me. One has a boot sticking through and another has an internal slider of some sort.

what did you do for the shifter modification? I bought a mustang shifter base(much cheaper than the camaro shifter and just have to drill 2 new holes to mount)and plan to weld a leg to it to get me closer to stock location. I think there is a 2.5" diff in shifter location between muncie and t5. Although, I am 600 miles from my car and can't confirm any of this. hearing what you did may help.

There is a company who makes custom boots. I just finished installing the same 5 speed in my 69 convertible and am planning on giving them a try. The cost is roughly $100. I would prefer to have an orginal console but since they are hard to come by I will go the custom boot route. Their address is: RedlineGoods.com
Who made your custom boot? Do you have any photos of it? I am curious what it looked like. Thanks, Tom
