Does anyone know the difference in appearance between the Rally 2 (JC code) and the Disc brake version (HK code)rims? My car was orginally a 350 car with disc brakes, but has been converted to a 400 so we are wanting to make it as original as possible with the 400 specs. also does anyone know the years in which these codes were for???
There is a link in the FAQ section that deals with Rally Codes. I purchased a mix set of JCs and HKs and the only difference I could see is that the center section (where the cap goes) was a little narrower on the HKs. Once the cap is installed you can't see the difference. I could not see any functional difference but being a purest, I opted to go with JCs all the way around. I don't believe the HKs were ever used on the 1st gens.
BTW, the HKs I bought were trash and I ended up scrapping them. Don't get burned like I did. Make sure the beads and the lug holes are in good shape before purchasing.
HK's were for early '70's Pontiacs like the Ventura.
I had a set of HK's sitting next to a set of JC's, and the only thing different was about an 1/8" back spacing. I think the HK's were set back further that distance.
Appearance wise, they were pretty much dead on.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.
