Traction bars were only 67. Manual trans cars got 2.

Yep, and that's the simple rule of thumb. There is actually one engine/tranny combo that got no bars (6 banger 1 barrel carb, auto)

There are 2 other distiquishing features for '67 - the unused upper control arm "eyes" cast into the center section and the setup for mono shocks with an alighnment pin in the center of the perches.

You can really prove it by showing him the 2-letter axle codes for the two years from the factory documentation. The letter combos are completely different between '67 and '68 so you could look up the code on that particular rear axle and go "voila".

Sorry, John, but '69 NEVER had factory bars. It was a '67 only design, without staggered shocks and with monoleafs.

People also confuse aftermarket "Lakewood" style under axle traction bars for OEM.

So my question is this, did the axle come with the mounts for traction bars on both sides of all 67 birds?

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.

no.

Correction: Axle, yes. Both sets of under axle brackets were welded on the '67's with 1 or 2 bars. What's missing from the single bar cars are, of course, the 2nd bar, the left side forward bracket, the floor reinforcement panel and the Riv nut in the rear frame rail to secure the 3rd bolt for the forward bracket.

Thanks salmon... I figured as much but wanted to make sure. I have one complete traction bar set up on passenger side with just the bracket welded to the driver side axle.

Only 67 mono leaf cars had factory traction bars.
If thier on a multi leaf, they where added after dealer sale.
