Is there anybody out there that has changed a headlight switch on a 69 Bird. Mine is acting up and I need to change it, but looking under the dash, I can't even see the back of the switch much less touch it. Any helpful hints that would make this job easier would be very much appreciated before I start tearing things out trying to get to the switch.
I have not done a 69 but a 68 your need to remove the dash instruments console first.
There is a button to press on the back of the switch. Reach your hand back there and feel for it. Then pull knob & rod out. You need to take nut off the front as well (bezel).

It's a real pain to remove. You have to unscrew the dash bezel & pull it away from the dash to gain access to the switch.
If the shaft is still attached to the switch you need reach up inside the dash & push a button in to release the shaft before the bezel can be pulled away from the dash.
This isn't too hard if your a contorsionist with small arms.
Or you could yank the shaft from the switch since your replacing it anyway. This will probably destroy the switch.
