I just got back from a 3 night cruise to hell, at least from a recently single 20 year olds POV. It was absolutely one of the most boring cruises I have ever been on. The decks were all cleared by 11 p.m. and none of the bars or night clubs had anything going on, either. Heck, the hot tubs were closed by 1 a.m. I had never seen so many muslims on a cruise, either. They out numbered any other group on the boat by 2:1. It's not that I have anything against them, it's the fact that they are very rude people as a whole. Also, I thought R.C. supported cougars. All that I saw were coyotes. My suggestion is that if you are looking for a party, do not go on Royal Caribbean during a holiday. In my opinion Carnival has much younger crowds.
Also, the deep water dolphin swim at Atlantis is a COMPLETE rip off! Online it says it take 3-4 hours to complete and that you get to use the water park You're only in the water with the dolphins for about 45 minutes. The rest of the time you spend walking to and from the ferry. You get pushed in the water by a dolphin for about one minute. Then, you get pulled in the water by the Sea Doo seascooters for roughly 10 minutes. After that you tok a couple of pictures. All in all it was a waste of money. Discovery Cove in Orlando is much more worth it and it is half the price of the one at Atlantis.
Wow, this blows my whole cruise ship dream. I figured party all night, half naked women making out with each other 24/7 etc. Seriously, I pictured these things as floating parties.
Hmm and the whole Muslim thing totally ruins my entire cruise ship fantasy! Why in the hell would they even be on a cruise ship other than to plot how to sink it?
I asked a security guard about all the muslims and he said last cruise 16 of them got in the hot tub, got naked and started taking a bath. They were using soap, imagine that. It took the maintenance crews three days to clean the hot tubs and the filtration system.
My wife and I went on a 5 day carnival cruise. The highlights were getting off the ship on Nassau, Half Moon Cay, and I can't recall the third island. But even then it was only about 4 hours per island.
I was incredibly bored 95% of the time. I had more fun driving from SC to Florida.

Did a CC out of Mobile, Al went to Cazumel, Mx (sp?)It was pretty good to kick-it-out-of-gear and coast for three days..... sure need it! That was 5 years ago, time for another one.....
I'd rather see a rust bucket on the road, than a garage queen anytime!!
My wife and I were on a Royal Caribbean Cruise years ago. Lots of older folks on board. We were guests of my parents, and they said the Royal Caribbean cruises were more adult, meaning less screaming kids running the decks. Actually, I think I saw maybe 5 or 6 kids under 18 the entire 7-day trip. Most people spent their time in the casino, we spent time on deck watching the ocean. Things basically shut down at night. People took in shows, casino, and then they went to sleep. By 1:00 am, all was quiet. Have to admit though, walking around on deck at 1:00 am is VERY cool. Can see more stars out there than I ever imagined.
As for Muslims, didn't see any on our cruise, but I imagine in this "hope and change" depression we're in, most Muslims are unaffected by the economy, so they go on many cruises. Most of them are doctors. And most of them have VERY rich relatives overseas.
Carnival is supposed to be more of a party vessel, Royal Caribbean is more for retirees.
The only cruise I was ever on was a 7 day Alaska cruise out of Seattle. It was great for the scenery and the stops, but cold! Even in Aug. My wife was pissed we didn't go someplace warm. My folks paid for it for their 50th, so I couldn't complain much. I don't really like being cooped up anywhere for that length of time.
If the day ever comes when my wife and I can actually take a vacation, it will be a cruise. However, I will definately ask ahead before commiting. I want to be certain that the one we go on will be a party cruise and there better be something going on 24 hours. After 23 years together and no vacations without kids, the one time we do go, it's gonna be a drunk fest and there [censored] well better be some hot chicks on the ship and no friggen rag heads taking a bath for the first time ever!
After years in the USMC and sailing around the world looking for a beach to hit, I told my wife that I've had enough of cruises.... I don't wanna get on another boat as long as I live. I was stuck on the Nimitz for 2 years, and I was lucky to be on a big boat rather than a smaller one that bounces all over the place.
We went on a cruise once. It was a Carnival Cruise out of San Jose, it went to Puerto Vallarta, Matzatlan, and Cabo San Lucas.
The only good part was the unlimited food (I was very pregnant and enjoyed the endless meal choices) and the ports of call, which were great as we were, for once, on foot instead of in a car. Walking through towns gives a much more in depth look and we experienced some really great things because we stopped and looked around and found stuff that was not on the guided tours, and had a great time and some great photo opportunities snorkeling off Cabo.
I found the speed at which day went to night amazing, as well as the stars.
I could have done without the boat ride from port to port though.

My wife and I have been on probably about 6 or 7 cruises(she loves em. Says it's the only time anyone takes care of her instead of the other way round(whatever). I'm ok for about the first 2 hours then I've seen everything on board I want to see. The best part about it is the places that they can take you to. You really have to be able to be happy not doing anything while you're at sea. It's only good for eating and drinking(alot). The only real party boat we've been on was LA to Ensenada and back. 3 dayer. Lots of youngsters and a few bachlorette party groups. They were ready to party with anything hanging. That was a drunken 24/7 cruise. Yeah it was Carnival.

I will admit that the few Carnival cruises I have been on are more geared to party people, but most of the bars shut down at 2 a.m. and some are open until 3 a.m.
Hey SETHMAST, I've been on a couple of those GOV. ones 1990-93 on the CV-66 America, the first one sucked for ports! One port Egypt, not the best one.....Second one was the Med pretty dang cool!! HIt a pile of ports would go back if the funds would let us.

I was on a westpac. went to 88 Olympics in Korea, along with Singapore, Thialand, PI and a bunch of others. Ports were fun, but the making cirlces in the Indian Ocean sucked.
